From July 14 to 16, John F. Head, president of the American Head Machinery Corporation, visited the Department of Technical Mechanics and Engineering Graphics (TMEG), the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport, Lviv Polytechnic. The Corporation conducts its activities in Denver, Colorado, USA. John F. Head also heads the Geopolymer Industries, which is engaged in research, development and implementation of innovative geopolymer materials in the construction industry.
John F. Head held a series of meetings with Vitalii Korendii, head of the Department of Technical Mechanics and Engineering Graphics, and Associate Professors Oleksandr Kachur and Volodymyr Heletii. Along with the presentations of developments and researches of the TMEG Department, a number of tours were conducted to the main building of Lviv Polytechnic, and the 14th academic building, where the leadership of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport and the Department Laboratories are located. The guest was particularly interested in the development of mobile robots with crawler and stepper motors, vibrating equipment for the construction industry (vibrating rammers, vibrating conveyors and vibrating separators), automated lifting and transporting equipment (elevator racks, paternosters, etc.).
As a result of a series of meetings, Vitalii Korendii, head of the TMEG Department, and John F. Head agreed on the ways of further cooperation both in the direction of design and construction and research works for the American Corporation, as well as regarding the possibilities of attracting foreign investments for the development of the Department and related Ukrainian enterprises.
At the end of the meetings, Vitalii Korendii, Oleksandr Kachur and Volodymyr Heletii thanked the guest for the visit and, in addition to a number of traditional gifts, handed over the coat of arms of Ukraine, made in the process of presenting 3D printing equipment.
John F. Head, who sincerely supports Ukraine at this difficult stage of its history, wished everyone a quick victory, the Department and the University – development and prosperity, academic staff – good health and inspiration in a difficult, but interesting educational and scientific field.
