Recently, the Department of Electronic Engineering held a long-awaited presentation of student course projects. This year, students had the opportunity to choose their own project topic and work in teams, which contributed to the development of their creativity and teamwork skills.

In total, four teams were formed, each of which chose its own topic for research and implementation. The projects were diverse: an electric piano, a Figurka game console, a digital calculator and a desulfator for car batteries.

– All members of our team love cars and everything related to them, so we decided to make a device that would be useful for car lovers. We decided to choose a car battery desulfator. Our device can restore an old battery, which can be used for further operation. All team members learned a lot of new information, gained experience, and experienced unforgettable emotions during the project», says Dmytro Khyrivskyi, a second-year student.

To support the Polytechnic students and provide them with professional advice, AJAX engineers were invited as external mentors along with the Department staff. They shared their experience and helped students at all stages of project work.

– I, like my entire team, enjoyed this experience. This is probably the most effective way for students to learn, because we immediately practice what we learn in lectures. The student space helped us to do our work as there was the right equipment and a place where we could come and work on our project at any time. Well, there were a lot of things that were missing, but the leadership of the Department of Electronic Engineering responded to all the suggestions and made efforts to improve the educational process», says Yurii Kozichuk, a second-year student, team leader of the Figurka project.

After the presentation of the works, Serhii Melnykov, a lecturer at the Department of Electronic Engineering, noted that the advantages of this format of tasks for future engineers are obvious, as they learn to work in a team, acquire practical skills, and, as a result, receive a ready-made device that can later be used in their portfolio during job interviews.

– We are grateful to our Department for the opportunity to work on this wonderful course project. Their support and professional approach were invaluable to us. The calculator project we chose gave us the opportunity to showcase our skills and learn new things. It was extremely interesting to work on it: we selected the components, designed the model, assembled and soldered the device, and wrote the software. By choosing an aesthetic transparent case, we gave the project a special look. We are proud of the results of our work and look forward to further cooperation», says Maksym Hmernytskyi, a second-year student, team leader of the Calculator project.

Another project was called «RV-VYM piano». The students created a device for beginners which provides a simple but interesting solution for practicing electronics, programming and music. According to Rostyslav Nehrych, a second-year student, the device’s small functionality makes it easy to understand the principle of modern synthesizers and how they work in terms of electronics. Thus, every beginner can gain new useful knowledge.
