On 27–29 August 2025, the 6th International Conference on Statistical Physics: Theory and Computer Simulations was held in Lviv. It was organised by the Yukhnovskyi Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in cooperation with Lviv Polytechnic National University and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, with the support of Lviv City Council.

This conference continued the tradition of regular international meetings on statistical physics in Ukraine, which began in the 1970s and was revived under the name Statistical Physics (Lviv, 2005; Kharkiv, 2006; Lviv, 2009, Lviv, 2012 and Lviv, 2019). This year’s event was of particular significance as it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Ihor Yukhnovskyi, an academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, an outstanding Ukrainian physicist, founder of the Lviv School of Statistical Physics and the Institute of Physics.

The opening ceremony featured welcoming speeches by Taras Bryk, Director of the. Yukhnovskyi Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Anatolii Zahorodnii, President and Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Andrii Moskalenko, First Deputy Mayor of Lviv; Oleksandr Kulepin, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration; Professor Roman Korzh, Vice-Rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Professor Andrii Hukaliuk, First Vice-Rector of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

The opening ceremony concluded with the presentation of the honorary doctorate diplomas to Professor Yuri Kozitsky, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Poland, and Dr. Orest Pizio (National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico).

The conference brought together 113 participants from 11 countries, including Ukraine, Poland, Slovenia, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, the United States, Mexico, and China, and became a platform for leading researchers, young scientists and students to present new findings, exchange ideas and foster international collaboration in the rapidly evolving field of statistical physics. The scientific programme covered a wide range of topics: soft matter theory, computer modelling of condensed matter, quantum matter and quantum technologies, as well as the physics of complex systems.

During the three days of the conference, 22 plenary lectures, 32 keynote and oral presentations, and 48 poster presentations were delivered, covering both fundamental achievements and practical applications.

To support and encourage young scientists, a competition for the best stand was held, resulting in five best stand presentations being awarded. This year’s conference successfully combined offline and online formats (16 speakers), which made it possible to expand international coverage and foster inclusive scientific discussion regardless of geographical boundaries.
