On January 26, 2022, during the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, an amendment to paragraph 13 of the Procedure for the appointment and payment of scholarships was approved.

The adoption of the act is due to the need to regulate the provisions of the Procedure for setting the limit of students who will be awarded an academic scholarship.

«As the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi said, the number of scholars will be 40–45%. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and fellow ministers for supporting this important document», said Serhii Shkarlet, Minister of Education and Science.

The academic or pedagogical board of the educational institution determines the limit of scholars for faculties, educational and research institutes (departments), courses and specialties (subject specialties, specializations), who will be awarded a scholarship based on the results of semester control. From now on, this indicator will be set in the range from 40 to 45% of the actual number of full-time students studying at the state or regional expenses (previously the figure was 35–40%).

The document regulates the provisions of the Procedure for awarding and paying scholarships, which was approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of July 12, 2004 No. 882 «Issues of scholarships».

The changes will regulate the issue of scholarships for students studying in institutions of professional higher education and research institutions.
