A session of the General Meeting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine was held on 1 May 2025. During the event there were the elections of full members (academicians) and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.

According to the decision of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, there were 12 positions for academicians and 41 positions for corresponding members in 37 majors. In addition, there were opened 10 positions for foreign members in 9 majors.

The distribution of positions among the departments and the choice of majors were based on the need to ensure the development of both fundamental and applied research, primarily in those areas where Ukrainian scientists achieve world-class results. At the same time, one of the key conditions for the nomination was the presentation of worthy candidates not only from the Academy’s institutes, but also from higher education institutions and sectoral scientific and technical institutions of the country.

Following a secret ballot, 12 academicians and 39 corresponding members were elected to the NAS of Ukraine.

In particular, Nataliia Shakhovska, Lviv Polytechnic National University, was elected a corresponding member of the Department of Informatics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
