The 2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject features 55 individual subjects across five broad subject areas.
This year, Lviv Polytechnic National University entered the Mechanical Engineering ranking for the first time and retained its position among Ukrainian and world universities in the Petroleum Engineering ranking:

The number of universities included in the rankings is indicated in brackets.
There are five indicators that determine the QS World University Rankings by Subject:
- Academic reputation (40–60% depending on the subject area),
- Employer reputation (10–30%),
- Research citations per paper (7.5–20%),
- H-index (7.5–20%),
- International research network (5–10%).
In total, the Rankings by Subject include more than 5200 universities from 148 countries all over the world.
