During April 7–9, 2025, a delegation of Lviv Polytechnic National University consisting of Professor Nataliia Shakhovska, Director of the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies, Professor Tetiana Bubela, Head of the Department of Information and Measurement Technologies, Professor Mykola Mykiychuk, the Department of Information and Measurement Technologies, and Professor Orest Ivakhiv, the Department of Intelligent Mechatronics and Robotics, the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology, were on a business trip to Germany at the invitation of our partners from the TU Ilmenau in Thuringia.

The purpose of the trip is to further develop the fruitful cooperation of Lviv Polytechnic with a related German university, participate in a scientific conference dedicated to the World Interferometry Day, and strengthen relationships with the leading German company SIOS – a world leader, manufacturer of precision metrological support for nanotechnologies.

As always, communication with German colleagues was warm and fruitful.

At a meeting with Professor Jens Müller, Vice President International Affairs and Transfer, the Ilmenau University of Technology, and Sophia Siegfried, Head of the International Office, they discussed the possibility of continuing the double-degree program with Lviv Polytechnic National University, and the development of joint scientific and educational projects, in particular those funded by the European Union and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD – Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst), and those under the Erasmus+ programs.

Depending on common interests, cooperation is possible with all faculties of the German university, including mechanical engineering, computer science and automation, electrical engineering and information technology, mathematics and natural sciences, business, economics and media.

There was also a visit to the SIOS company where its managing director Dr. Denis Dontsov made a presentation on their new developments. The delegation also got acquainted with the SIOS structural divisions which formed a vision for further relationships with the company.

Professors Eberhard Manske, Thomas Fröhlich, Thomas Kissinger and Rostyslav Mastylo conducted an interesting tour to the laboratories of the Institute of Process Measurement and Sensor Technology.

Lviv Polytechnicians also took part in the international conference on interferometry, which was opened by Professor Stefan Sinzinger, Vice President for Research and Young Scientists.
