Lviv Polytechnic National University held a working meeting to discuss the development prospects of physical culture and sports at the university, as well as ways to strengthen collaboration with public sports organizations in Lviv. Particular emphasis was placed on establishing a partnership between the university and the public organization Sykhiv Sports Club.
Nataliia Shakhovska, Rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University, attended the meeting and highlighted the importance of integrating sports into the university’s educational environment as a key component in shaping multifaceted and harmoniously developed students. Mykola Lohoida, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Student Development, and Ihor Helzhynskyi, Vice-Rector for Social Affairs and Infrastructure Management, also took part in the discussion, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering student leadership, teamwork, psychological resilience, and social responsibility.
The scientific community of Lviv Polytechnic was represented by Olha Oseredchuk, Professor at the Department of Mental Health Practical Psychology, the Institute for Law, Psychology, and Innovative Science, who emphasized the importance of physical activity for supporting mental health of young people, and Oleksii Druhov, Professor at the Department of Management of Organizations, the Institute of Economics and Management, who outlined the managerial and organizational aspects of the development of sports projects in higher education institutions.
On the public side, the meeting was attended by Bohdan Lemishko, head of the NGO Sykhiv Sports Club, who presented the club’s vision for the development of volleyball and table tennis, as well as the possibility of involving professional coaches, partners and sponsors in the implementation of joint initiatives.
The key result of the meeting was the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the public organization Sykhiv Sports Club and Lviv Polytechnic National University. This document defines the legal, organizational and practical principles of partnership aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, developing physical culture and sports among student youth, creating favorable conditions for regular sports activities, as well as implementing joint educational, sports and social projects.
The document provides for a number of key areas of cooperation. In particular, the parties agreed on joint actions for the development, modernization and effective use of sports infrastructure in order to ensure proper conditions for physical culture and sports.
Particular attention was paid to in-depth cooperation in the development of volleyball and table tennis, in particular, by strengthening the team, improving the training of athletes and creating conditions for the systematic development of this sport. They plan to organize training processes, hold tournaments and competitions, as well as involve student youth in active participation in the sports life of the university. An important direction is the development of women’s volleyball. The Memorandum provides for the creation and application of a women’s volleyball team to participate in the First League competitions, as well as the formation of conditions for its stable work, professional growth of athletes and increasing the competitiveness of the team.
By agreement of the parties, the use of the university’s sports infrastructure for holding competitions, tournaments and other sports events is provided for with the mandatory positioning of Lviv Polytechnic as a partner of such events and the involvement of representatives of the university administration.
Within the framework of cooperation, the Sykhiv Sports Club initiates the creation and development of sports teams, ensures the organization of the training process and participation in competitions, complies with the requirements of current legislation and internal regulatory documents of the university, and also contributes to the formation of a positive image of Lviv Polytechnic as an active partner of sports initiatives.
