An online meeting of directors of the Institutes and heads of the Departments, Lviv Polytechnic, with the heads of Faculties of V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University was held on 15 August.

A week ago, the rector of Lviv Polytechnic, Nataliia Shakhovska, together with the Vice-Rector for Institutional Development Roman Korzh, visited Karazin University, where they signed a memorandum of cooperation. On its basis, the first joint meeting gathered representatives of the Faculties of Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Geology, the Institute of Management, the Faculty of Economics and relevant related structures of Lviv Polytechnic.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged scientific and educational results, talked about the work of their departments and shared their achievements. Specific steps for further work were identified for each area. Based on this meeting, we are already planning further cooperation between the faculties and institutes of the two universities: joint scientific seminars, participation in conferences, cooperation between departments, as well as active interaction between student self-government bodies, said Vice-Rector Roman Korzh.

Particular attention was given to the willingness of the Students’ Union, the Student and Postgraduate Council of Lviv Polytechnic, and the students of Karazin University to work together.

There are also ideas for specific projects from the Department of Sociology and Social Work, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Departments of the Institute of Public Administration, Governance and Professional Development. Scientific and educational research in Kharkiv related to medicine, physics, radio engineering and practical developments also aroused considerable interest.

The work of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems at Lviv Polytechnic, which has already experienced working with physicists, chemists and radiophysicists, also was of particular interest. There are plans to expand this cooperation in the future.

There was the first Zoom conference within the framework of the memorandum. Other online meetings are planned, as well as a visit by Lviv scientists to the laboratories of Karazin University, which has an innovative scientific base that they plan to involve in joint research.

We have a cooperation agreement with the National Technical University «Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute». We are interested in establishing cooperation with Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics and we also plan to interact more closely with Kyiv higher education institutions. In general, we intend to establish close relationships with leading universities in Ukraine, emphasised Roman Korzh.
