Issues related to the professional activities of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, are gaining special weight and importance today, as the paradigm of interaction between the state and the diaspora, which is becoming one of the important directions of state policy, are changing. This, in particular, was stated by the President of Ukraine in his speech on the occasion of the Day of Unity of Ukraine, announcing the submission of the draft law on multiple citizenship.
In connection with the departure of millions of Ukrainians abroad, the question of their return to Ukraine and the preservation of the Ukrainian identity of those who choose to live outside our country, is particularly acute. That is why the Ukrainian State Center for International Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine conducts a series of strategic sessions on issues of the Ukrainian diaspora, the Ukrainian language, etc. At the invitation of Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Deputy Minister, Iryna Kliuchkovska, Director of IECDR, was a key speaker at such a session, and in the summer, at the invitation of Andrii Stashkiv, Deputy Minister, she held a meeting where she discussed the issue of preserving the Ukrainian identity of youth abroad and work of the Institute in this direction.
On January 31, 2024, Iryna Kliuchkovska met with Valeriia Hokhman, a state expert of the Directorate of School Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. They discussed technical issues of preparation for the Third World Forum of Ukrainian Studies Saturday and Sunday Schools, which IECDR is preparing for August this year at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The Institute’s work is of interest to other Ministries and agencies, in addition to the Ministry of Education and Science. Thus, at the invitation of Mariana Betsa, the Ambassador-at-Large for Global Ukrainian Community, a meeting was held on February 1, 2024, which dealt with a number of issues on the interaction of global Ukrainian community and our state. Iryna Kliuchkovska also invited the Ambassador to participate in the event planned by IECDR for the next month at Lviv Polytechnic.
On the initiative of Vasyl Kremen, the president of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, cooperation has been started with the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and on February 1, 2024, an Agreement on cooperation between IECDR and this institution was concluded and signed to start work with the Ukrainian diaspora.
During Iryna Kliuchkovska’s stay in Kyiv, she presented the books by the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations to Oksen Lisovyi, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Andrii Stashkiv, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Vasyl Kremin, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and employees of the Institute of Pedagogy. A set of books about the activities of IECDR will also be given to Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
