At the international conference Polytechnicians shared their experience of professional adaptation of the military servicemen

The delegation from Lviv region took part in the International Conference «International Cooperation in Solving the Problem of Social and Professional Adaptation of Servicemen, Veterans and Members of Their Families in Ukraine», which took place in Kyiv on May 11–12.

Among the conference speakers there were Tetiana Medvid, Head of the Department of Social Protection, Lviv Regional State Administration, Volodymyr Shamrai, Representative of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs in Lviv region, Roman Korzh, Vice-Rector for Education and Social Development, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Tetiana Shapovalova, coordinator of the Norway-Ukraine project in Lviv region, Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Work, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic National University.

The conference participants shared their experience in the social and professional adaptation of Ukrainian defenders to a peaceful life. They also discussed the creation of tools that would allow maximizing the employment of veterans and create all the conditions to make their transition to civilian life as effective as possible.

According to Tetiana Medvid, the Norway-Ukraine project «Professional adaptation. Integration into the state system» is implemented in Lviv region with the support of the Department of Social Protection within the framework of cooperation with Lviv Polytechnic National University. The purpose of the project is professional retraining of servicemen who took part in Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation, released to reserve, and members of their families. Participants receive assistance in legal and socio-psychological adaptation, as well as assistance in employment and organization of their own business.

Let us remind that during 2014–2019, almost 600 people underwent professional retraining within the project «Retraining and social adaptation of servicemen and members of their families in Ukraine».
