IJPS students took part in the International Competition of Criminal Law Research Papers

On May 15, 2020, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Academician V. Stashys Scientific Research Institute for the Study of Crime Problems and community organization «Ukrainian Criminal Law Association» organized and held a series of events dedicated to the memory of Volodymyr Stashys, a well-known Ukrainian lawyer, academician and former First Vice-Rector of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University of Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine.

As part of these events, there was held an International Competition of Student Criminal Law Research Papers on the topic «Criminal law in the context of globalization of social processes: traditions and innovations.» There were submitted about a hundred scientific research papers from different parts of Ukraine and from abroad, among which there were such powerful scientific and practical schools as Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk State University of Internal Affairs, Luhansk State University of Internal Affairs named after E.O. Didorenko, University of Bialystok (Republic of Poland) and others.

Students of the Institute of Jurisprudence and Psychology, Lviv Polytechnic National University, also well presented their research papers in this competition. The report of the second-year student Solomiia Druk on the topic «Types of involvement in a crime» (supervisor – K. Marysiuk, Professor at the Department of Criminal Law and Procedure) became one of the winners, taking third place, and the reports of the second-year student Anastasia Krekhovetska on «Implementation of the principle of justice in the general sentencing principles» (supervisor – O. Kolb, Professor at the CLP Department) and the third-year student Sandra Horkavchuk on «Sentencing with taking into account the severity of crime (supervisor – K. Marysiuk, Professor at the CLP Department) were among the finalists of this competition.
