The spring semester at universities is in full swing, although it switched to online form. GlobalLogic decided to summarize some results and review the achievements that the company and specifically GlobalLogic Education have achieved during the autumn of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020.

GlobalLogic Education is responsible for a wide range of educational activities, programs and events. Priority is given to cooperation with higher education institutions which train the high level specialists and popularization of the embedded systems development among Ukrainian engineers.

In 2019, GlobalLogic invested more than $ 2 million in the development of engineering talents in Central and Eastern Europe. A significant part of these investments falls on Ukraine. It was in 2019 that GlobalLogic designed and presented the Embedded Starter Kit. The first demonstration of the device took place during the opening of the research embedded-laboratory GlobalLogic at Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Embedded Starter Kit is a system board, supplemented by sensors, screen and other components needed for work on embedded solutions. Embedded Starter Kit has already been given to 9 universities, where it is used by more than 1,000 students. In 2020, the company intends to present another 200 sets to 5 universities. Due to this, about 2,000 embedded novice engineers will be trained annually.

An important element of GlobalLogic’s cooperation with universities is to support active academic staff and help raise their qualification. Thus, in Lviv there was held a program for educators «Project approach in higher education», which was attended by 25 academics from five key universities in Lviv: Lviv Polytechnic National University, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Ukrainian Catholic University, IT Step University and Lviv State University of Life Safety.

As part of the program, company experts told educators about the latest trends in project management and life cycle in large companies, the main tools of IT project management and taught to create interesting practical cases for their students.

GlobalLogic actively conducts GL BaseCamp – trainings for students, which are held at technical partner universities, as well as joint educational projects with universities – Proof of Concepts, in which it develops students’ teamwork and project skills. It is especially gratifying that students themselves note the importance of GlobalLogic’s collaboration with universities. According to the EY study, GlobalLogic entered the top 10 companies in the IT industry in Ukraine in 2019, according to students.
