In the evening of Thursday, 28 November, Orpheus Choir was celebrating the 45th anniversary of its creative activity and invited everyone to attend the concert in the Assembly Hall of the main building of Lviv Polytechnic. People were actively gathering in anticipation of the concert and the real celebration, filling the entire hall. Together with Orpheus Choir the guests sang the carols, riflemen's songs and remembered Taras Shevchenko. The atmosphere of the concert was extremely solemn.
The Orpheus Choir of the Prosvita People's House was founded in 1979. The artistic director and chief conductor is Volodymyr VIVCHARYK, and the concertmaster is Iryna BYTS. The organiser and first artistic director of the choir was the famous musician Petro Gudz. The choir was later led by Honoured Artist of Ukraine Oleksiy Volynets and Honoured Worker of Culture of Ukraine Volodymyr Hnid. The peculiarity of the choir is that its members are employees of Lviv Polytechnic.
In Lviv Polytechnic, the Choir actively performs at the concerts and celebrations on the occasion of Independence Day, Lviv City Day, Shevchenko and other themed evenings, Christmas, etc. Orpheus Choir has broad experience in performing liturgical and prayer services in numerous churches in Lviv and in the Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk region.
The Choir is a laureate of the International Festival of Choral Music in Lviv (1998), winner of the XIX International Festival of Sacred Music in Hajnówka, Poland (2001), diploma winner at the Choir in Motion International Festival in Arnhem, Holland (2001), XX International Festival on the Island of Jersey, Great Britain (2002) and other festivals in Ukraine and abroad. The Orpheus National Male Choir has gained wide popularity far beyond Lviv Polytechnic and is recognised as a unique phenomenon in contemporary choral art.
