22 students are studying under the educational and professional program «Technology of Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Medical Products» at Lviv Polytechnic National University.
According to Nataliia Semeniuk, Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Technology of Plastics Processing, the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies, there were many entrants who wanted to become prosthetists and orthodontists this year. Eight were chosen from among 48 entrants. Another 14 students will pursue a master’s degree.
«Students will gain knowledge of modern technologies of prosthetics and rehabilitation, learn about the development, manufacture and practical implementation of medical products at the appropriate scientific and methodological level and in accordance with modern conditions», says Nataliia Semeniuk.
According to the Associate Professor, this major can also be obtained at the universities of the European Union and Great Britain. In Ukraine, such specialists are trained at the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics, where students can major in Biomedical Engineering under the educational program «Orthopedic Technologies and Engineering» and at the Department of Biosafety and Human Health, the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, the National Technical University of Ukraine «Ihor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute».
