Taking into account the numerous academic mobility programmes at Lviv Polytechnic, we can confidently say that our students are extremely lucky. The programmes are very diverse, ranging from short-term to long-term, with a focus on different European countries, academic unions and beyond.
One of the programmes is the EPICUR European University. This is a European partnership that brings together a number of countries, such as Denmark, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, France and Greece. The programme operates as a part of Erasmus+, including its funding.
We had the opportunity to learn more about EPICUR from Sofia Kiriazova, a student at the Department of International Information, Lviv Polytechnic.
– Sofia, please tell us about your experience of participating in the EPICUR programme.
– I was invited to Poland to participate in a four-day trip to the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poland under the EPICUR programme, where I took part in the International Spring School. The programme, which is a part of Erasmus+, serves as a hub for various programmes, including EPICUR.
– The programme you participated in is really short. What did this trip involve?
– The theme of our work was «Liberal Arts and Sciences». At first, we listened to an introductory lecture, where we were told how the institute operates and had the opportunity to study for four days. The peculiarity of the programme is that it gives students the freedom to choose any academic discipline, regardless of their chosen profession. This is a difference between our universities: here you can mostly study only the subjects related to your chosen major. Accordingly, the lectures were on different topics. For example, a physics teacher spoke about various physical phenomena, a history teacher about Poland’s past, and a geographer – about the city of Poznan, where we were staying in.
