In June 2025, the University’s Career Guidance Center, together with Lviv Regional Small Academy of Sciences for Youth, held the IT Camp Summer School. The event was aimed not only at helping motivated students to learn about various areas of modern IT technologies, but also at making them interested in further studying at Lviv Polytechnic.
The School’s programme was rich, diverse and highly practical. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about:
- graph theory as a language spoken by data;
- digital circuitry – logic elements, triggers, LED drivers;
- creating embedded systems and programmable systems on a chip which is the basis for the Internet of Things;
- computer vision technologies and the role of mathematics in their implementation.
As part of their practical training, the students worked in Global Logic’s specialised laboratories, modelled and printed 3D objects, and created their own web resources.
A special event was an excursion to SoftServe, one of the largest players in the IT market of Ukraine and Eastern Europe. The participants were warmly welcomed by representatives of the company’s communications and talent development department at the modern office located at 2D Sadova Street. The tour began with an introduction to the company’s history, global projects and key activities.
The youth development programme implemented by SoftServe attracted considerable attention. The students were told about internship opportunities, mentoring programmes, and real-life stories of career growth of young professionals who started out in summer schools and now work on international projects. There was also a tour of the work and creative areas, where future IT professionals saw what a flexible and comfortable workspace looks like: a relaxation area, meeting rooms, and areas for informal communication.
The final block was particularly friendly, featuring informal communication with the company’s employees, who were eager to answer the students’ questions: how to build a career, what technologies are worth studying today, and where to start their own path in IT. The students were sincerely inspired and motivated by seeing a living example of how a hobby can turn into a profession.
The international teleconference Kyiv-Geneva-Lviv was also interesting. The school participants joined a webinar where Serhii Cholak, PhD, spoke about the modernisation of the CMS tracker for the Large Hadron Collider, which aroused great interest and discussion.
The school ended with a ceremonial presentation of certificates, symbolically highlighting the value of the experience and knowledge gained.
The IT Camp Summer School has become an example of successful interaction between science, education and internship, as well as a step towards the formation of the future generation of IT professionals. The organisers are sincerely grateful to all the teachers and partners, and most of all to the participants who chose science and Lviv Polytechnic!
