The first interactive Museum of Science in Western Ukraine will be opened in Lviv. It will be created with the assistance of the Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on the basis of Tech StartUp School, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The museum will be set up in the center of Lviv at 7 Sichovykh Striltsiv Street. Formerly there was the College of Infocommunications of Lviv Polytechnic, which is now transferred to the building on Volodymyra Velykoho Street The training center and research laboratories used by college students will remain in the museum with an area of 1,000 m2.
– This museum will not just be an exhibition and interactive museum. It will serve for educational purposes, development of science and innovations. There will be not only exhibits, but also laboratories for students, schoolchildren, young entrepreneurs who will interact with each other, said Nazar Podolchak, Director of Tech StartUp School and SID City Science Park, Lviv Polytechnic.
In October 2020, such a museum was opened in Kyiv at the VDNG expocenter of Ukraine. It is planned to establish such a museum in Lviv, Mariupol and Poltava. The main goal is to make children get interested in science, to promote physics, chemistry, biotechnology and IT.
Yurii Bobalo, Rector of Lviv Polytechnic National University, signed a memorandum with Oksen Lisovyi, Director of the National Center «Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine», on the establishment of an interactive and educational museum in Lviv.
According to Nazar Podolchak, about 12–15 million hryvnias are promised to be allocated from the state budget for the construction. Renovation of the college building has already begun. With timely funding, the museum will be already opened this year.
– This will be such a museum that has already been operating in Kyiv. But there will be some peculiarities. We have an innovative division Tech StartUp School with study programs and inventions. We will add our expositions of inventions and startups, summed up Nazar Podolchak.
In addition, Lviv Polytechnic Tech StartUp School with specialized laboratories and room for innovative development started operating in 2017. There are held master classes, trainings, lectures, competitions and contests of innovative projects and startups.
