April 11 and 16, 2024, were special days for Olena Stepaniv Ukrainian Humanitarian Gymnasium in Lviv, as the participants of the European Studies for Technical Specialties project at Lviv Polytechnic National University met with students and held a Green Deal Euro Day at the school. This event, which has been held for the second year in a row with the support of the EU Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Program, has become an integral part of the educational process aimed at promoting the principles of sustainable development and raising environmental awareness among young people.
Over two days, the event was attended by 186 gymnasium pupils in the 5th and 10th forms, who had a great opportunity to learn about the European Green Deal and its key areas. The project representatives spoke about the strategic plan aimed at transforming the European Union into a priority zone of zero greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable economic development. The initiative aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and ensure sustainable and inclusive growth that contributes to the well-being of society and the environment..
One of the key elements of the successful implementation of the European Green Deal is education and awareness of the younger generation about environmental problems and ways to solve them. The participation of gymnasium students in the event, where they had the opportunity to learn about the basic principles and goals of the European Green Deal, is an important step in this direction.
It is worth noting that educated citizens are able to better understand and support measures aimed at preserving the environment, as evidenced by the active participation of gymnasium students in the event and their strong interest.
In addition to the theoretical part of the event, the participants took part in discussions about environmental pollution and the benefits of living in an eco-style. At the end of the event, there was an interesting game part, during which the most eco-conscious and eco-aware students were identified and received incentive prizes as winners.
The team of the project “European Studies for Technical Specialties at Lviv Polytechnic National University” is sincerely grateful to the leadership of Lviv Ukrainian Humanitarian Gymnasium named after Olena Stepaniv for their support in organizing the event. Special thanks to the Director of the Gymnasium Larysa Vasylyshyn, Deputy Director Larysa Dziubynska and class teachers for their assistance in the successful organization of Green Deal Euro Days.
The event was not only a platform for learning, but also an important step in shaping the environmental awareness of the younger generation, which has great potential to create a green and sustainable future.
