On June 13, 2025, the EUSTS project team held the final of the «Best European Practices» video contest. The contest aimed to identify, showcase and promote the best European practices across various areas of public life – from digitalization and ecology to innovation, civil society, and culture.

The competition has become a platform for creative expression of young people who want to share their own vision of European values and approaches. The competition was attended by 24 teams representing various institutes of Lviv Polytechnic National University (Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology, Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies, Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Systems, Institute of Power Engineering and Control Systems), as well as Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.

The contestants covered a wide range of topics that are extremely relevant in the context of Ukraine’s European integration:

  • Digitalization and innovation: the participants considered the challenges of digital development in Ukraine, including access to digital technologies, development of Smart Cities, digital literacy of the population, and prospects for the implementation of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Attention is also paid to the digital transformation of public services, the introduction of e-governance, and the impact of artificial intelligence on the future of the labor market.
  • Ecology and Sustainable Development: the video authors explored the issues of urban ecology, development of sewage infrastructure, environmental impact of fast fashion, and resource reuse practices. The videos also touched upon the issues of green energy, energy efficiency in the home, reducing the carbon footprint, and introducing environmental education in communities.
  • Civil society and European values: The videos focused on the role of civic engagement, freedom, human rights and democratic principles as the basis for the development of society in the European context. The importance of youth participation in decision-making, volunteerism, intercultural dialogue, inclusion, as well as combating disinformation and building trust in institutions were not overlooked.

The jury, consisting of EUSTS project participants, evaluated the entries based on several main criteria: creativity, relevance, research component, applied value, informativeness, and quality of execution.
