Lviv Polytechnic opens new opportunities for students. For example, in order to let them improve and master new skills, the University has double degree programs. These are joint educational programs of Ukrainian and foreign universities, due to which students have the opportunity to study in educational institutions of different countries. This, in turn, allows them to increase their level of competitiveness. The double degree program is actively operating in IHSS, especially for International Relations, Public Communications and Regional Studies. We talked about this in more detail with the Head of the PSIR Department, Professor Halyna Lutsyshyn.

New knowledge, opportunities, experience

– Please, tell us more about the double degree program at your Department.

– Our Department signed an agreement on double degree programs with the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn (Republic of Poland) in 2017. Since then, we have been successfully implementing joint training. Students majoring in International Relations, IHSS, have the opportunity to study for free at the University of Warmia and Mazury, as well as to live in the student dormitory of that university. In particular, master’s students are majoring in International Political and Economic Relations, bachelor’s students – in Political Science. The double degree programs at Lviv Polytechnic National University are coordinated by the Director of the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, DSc (Political science), Prof. Yaryna Turchyn, and on the Polish side – Professor Tereza Astramowicz-Leik. In order to make this program successfully operate, our Department has a team of academics who ensure its implementation – these are Associate Professor Olha Ivasechko and Assistant Dominika Roslon. I want to say that the double degree program opens wide opportunities for our students, both for study and further professional development. In particular, our students, besides studying, have the opportunity to do an internship in the Sejm of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, to get acquainted with the activities of scientific and public institutions, as well as to attend scientific conferences and forums. We are in constant communication with our graduates who studied under the double degree program and I want to say that everyone is very satisfied with the level of training. All students returned to Ukraine and got employed, as the purpose of the program is to give our students the opportunity not only to gain experience at a foreign university, but also to raise their competitiveness for the future job.
