From 27 to 29 August, the Summer Cybersecurity Relax School 2025 was held at the Department of Information Protection, the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology, Lviv Polytechnic National University. The event, held for the second time, brought together students, educators and leading cybersecurity experts to exchange knowledge and practical experience.
Over the course of three days, participants attended lectures and hands-on sessions led by experts from SoftServe, UnderDefense, EveryMatrix and representatives of the Cyber Police.
On 27 August, Roman Karpiuk, CSOC Specialist at SoftServe, discussed the specific role and operations of blue teams in cybersecurity. Pavlo Pavlyshyn, CSOC Specialist at SoftServe, focused on modern approaches to email security, and Liubomyr Mudryi, Senior Front-End Developer at EveryMatrix, covered the process of implementing artificial intelligence in development, including supply chain risks, data privacy and intellectual property.
On 28 August, the focus turned to cybercrime. Cybersecurity specialist Volodymyr Bus presented a methodology for investigating cybercrimes, while UnderDefense experts Ihor Symak and Anna Pradun (both Penetration Testers) shared their insights into social engineering, human hacking techniques and real-world APT attack scenarios.
On 29 August, the focus was on practical cybersecurity tools. Ivan Kolbasynskyi, Security Engineer, talked about how to begin a journey in CTF. Vasyl Poberezhnyk, Senior AQA Engineer at EveryMatrix, highlighted the challenges of automating API security testing, while Valeria Ivkova, Police Major and Senior Operations Officer at the Cybercrime Countermeasures Department in Lviv, demonstrated the capabilities of OSINT technologies in law enforcement.
In addition to the educational part, participants enjoyed table tennis, sports poker and such video games as FIFA, Forza and Mortal Kombat. They also played Cybermafia – an exclusive adaptation developed by the faculty and students of the Department of Information Protection, which combines the classic game Mafia with cybersecurity elements and has no analogues.
