The Department of Robotics and Integrated Mechanical Engineering Technologies (RIME), the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport, Lviv Polytechnic National University, the Lviv Polytechnic Science Park and the subsidiary Abplanalp Ukraine, which is the official representative of the Swiss company Abplanalp Engineering, started to cooperate. The joint initiative is aimed at the development of modern engineering education and the training of specialists who have up-to-date skills in working with high-tech production equipment.
Lviv Polytechnic National University has become an official HAAS training center in Western Ukraine, which has a unique license that gives the right to conduct training courses for operators of numerically controlled machine tools. Currently, this is the only center in the Western region where training is carried out on the basis of equipment and methods of the HAAS company (USA) in compliance with established professional standards and operation of the company’s metal-cutting machines. Professor Volodymyr Hurei, Doctor of Technical Sciences, the RIME Department, and Associate Professor Andrii Slipchuk, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Doctoral Student, underwent specialized training in the HAAS system in Kyiv, successfully passed the certification and received official certificates of teachers confirming their qualifications and the right to teach training programs for CNC operators.
HAAS equipment is a recognized world leader in the field of high-precision mechanical engineering, which is widely used in industry, which will allow students to work with technological equipment that fully meets international industry standards. In recent years, thanks to participation in grant programs with the Gene Haas Foundation and the National Institute for Metalworking Skills and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a laboratory of modern metal-cutting equipment was created at the Department of Robotics and Integrated Mechanical Engineering Technologies, the Institute of Mechanical Engineering and Transport, in particular, the HAAS VF-2 multi-operation milling and drilling machining center, and CNC training racks manufactured by HAAS (USA).
