Lviv Polytechnic Project Office advises to pay attention to A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for digitizing cultural heritage objects within the framework of the Horizon Europe Framework Programme.
The aim of the competition is to develop and implement innovative tools and methods for digitising visible and invisible characteristics of cultural heritage objects, which will be included in the European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage (ECCCH).
There are still great needs in the field of cultural heritage that require further research and innovation into more advanced digitization tools and methods. Projects should contribute to all of the following expected outcomes:
- development of new AI-based tools and methods that improve the process of digitization of material cultural heritage objects;
- improving methods for obtaining and processing advanced two-dimensional representations (e.g. reflectance transformation, multispectral, and panoramic imaging) and for better integration of 2D representations with 3D images;
- development of new tools and methods for calculating and encoding local accuracy constraints with high accuracy in reconstructed 3D models. These tools must be able to produce measurement-based similarity limits between the digital model and the physical object at any point on the surface, as well as algorithmically estimated accuracy limits;
- development of special digitization solutions capable of mixing different digitization approaches to capture dynamic or hidden characteristics of complex assemblies without disassembling them.
The deadline for applications is September 21, 2023, 5:00 p.m. (Brussels time).
