Canada’s Honorary Consul in Ukraine Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych visits Lviv Polytechnic IECDR

On February 27, 2020, the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, held a meeting with Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych, a long-term partner of IECDR, Honorary Consul of Canada in Ukraine, a Ph.D. and a researcher who is deeply interested in the peculiarities of the creation of the New Ukrainian School (NUS).

For a long time Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych has been actively working for the development of Ukrainian education in different directions. These include a successful project of personal-oriented teaching Facing A Child, as well as the project which will be implemented for already the third time in Ukraine, The Summer Institute For Teachers, conducted by true intellectual educators from Canada.

This time at the meeting they spoke about the possibility of integrating the Ukrainian School into the educational space of the country of residence, the peculiarities of using created in Ukraine textbooks in Saturday and Sunday Schools abroad.

They also discussed the structure and peculiarities of a communication platform for Ukrainian School teachers from all over the world – the website Ukrainian Educational Universe, as well as the participation of Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych in the important event which IECDR is organizing – the Biennale «Ukrainian Language in the World: Regress or Progress?» which takes place from June 25 to 28, 2020, at Lviv Polytechnic National University.

They outlined plans for the future, in particular the need to develop theoretical basis for the functioning of the Ukrainian language abroad based on the practices of its functioning in the world.

IECDR expressed its desire to draw on Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych experience of reading method «from text to letter», which is important for the creation of textbooks in Ukrainian as a foreign language, which IECDR is working on. The issues of academic integrity were also addressed.
