Providing European level educational services, which would provide graduates with a high level of competitiveness not only on the national, but also on the international labour market, is one of the key tasks of the Strategic Development Plan of Lviv Polytechnic National University.
On February 26–27, 2024, international accreditation of educational and professional programs took place at Lviv Polytechnic National University. Due to the full-scale military aggression of Russia and the state of war, the international accreditation procedure involved online meetings of experts with the University’s target groups. The international expert group formed by the German Central Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation (ZEvA) in Hannover, Germany, consisted of six people: three professors from German universities, a representative of employers, a higher education student from Germany and a project coordinator from the agency Dr. Barbara Haferkorn.
It was possible to realize this thanks to the assistance of Taras Kytsmey, Doctor Honoris Causa of Lviv Polytechnic, co-founder and member of the Board of Directors of SoftServe Ukraine
Four master’s educational and professional programs in the specialty 122 «Computer Sciences» were submitted for international accreditation:
- Information Management Systems and Technologies (Department of Automated Control Systems, the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies (ICSIT);
- System Design (Department of Computer-Aided Design, ICSIT);
- Artificial Intelligence Systems (Department of Artificial Intelligence Systems, ICSIT);
- Computer Systems for Managing Moving Objects (Motor Transport) (Department of Computerized Automatic Systems, the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology (ICTA).
At the final meeting, international experts noted the positive practices of ensuring the quality of educational programs and the educational process in general, which are implemented at the University, and further directions for improving the development of educational programs and the internal quality assurance system were highlighted. All experts noted Lviv Polytechnic’s readiness for integration into the European Education Area and compliance with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG).
Experts from Germany were pleasantly surprised by the openness, accessibility, clear and coordinated work of all University units that participated in the accreditation procedure.
