ONLY: Open a New Leader in Yourself is an educational program that will help participants develop leadership and innovation in Ukrainian universities. The representatives will have the opportunity to join the mini-MBA with international experts and mentoring sessions by Ukrainian and British experts. In the final, the participants will present their own projects, and three winners will receive free internships at the universities in Great Britain.
On March 20, a networking meeting of participants took place at Lviv Polytechnic National University. Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ivan Demydov, Vice-Rector for Scientific Research of Lviv Polytechnic, Yuliia Sobol, Education Project Manager, Liubomyr Pylypenko, Institute of Public Administration, Governance and Professional Development, and Marta Mador, Project Manager at Kingston University, made a welcome speech. Each of the speakers emphasized the importance of this project’s development and the possibility of implementing its results, because changes and support today are necessary and should become decisive in the reform of higher education in Ukraine.
In addition to networking, the participants took part in a strategic session by Pavlo Sheremeta and a motivational meeting with Olena Chorna.
At the event, Pavlo Sheremeta spoke about vision and mission, changes and expectations, pains and prospects, innovations and traditions in higher education institutions, a change of thinking and the blue ocean strategies in an already familiar field.
«It was very powerful, I met with other participants, we talked a lot to understand our needs and requests, and now we are looking forward to further meetings», said one of the project participants.
Olena Chorna, as an ex-representative of the educational environment, worked with the participants on internal motivation and comprehension of the needs of both the external and internal world, as well as the formation of an understanding of one’s own strengths.
With the support of the participants, the project team will contribute to the creation of a network platform of like-minded people who will develop leadership and innovation, expand opportunities and cooperation between Ukrainian and foreign universities, and jointly contribute to solving the glass ceiling problem in our higher education institutions.
«We received an incredibly high number of registrations and our British partners had a difficult choice, but it was the right choice. Participants are motivated and have all the resources to implement leadership changes in our education system. We talked about cooperation and how we can support each other today», commented Nazar Podolchak, Head of Tech StartUp School, Lviv Polytechnic.
The knowledge and skills acquired within the framework of the project will influence the understanding of oneself and one’s needs, will provide an opportunity to make positive changes in institutions of higher education, and education and science even after the project completion.
The project is implemented by Kingston University, Lviv Polytechnic National University and Tech StartUp School with the support of the British Council Ukraine within the Going Global Partnerships Gender Equality Partnerships program.
