The Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Department is a structural unit of the Research Division of Lviv Polytechnic National University.
Areas of activity and main functions of the department:
1. Intellectual property management and commercialization of the University's research results:
• Introduction and support of modern intellectual property (IP) management models at the university;
• Commercialization of the results of R&D and educational activities;
• Supporting the processes of acquiring intellectual property rights;
• Identifying promising developments through the examination of their commercial potential;
• Facilitating technology transfer to businesses and other scientific institutions, as well as the Science Park;
• Information support for the management and commercialization of intellectual property objects (IPO) on the Internet.
2. Legal protection and regulation:
• Basic monitoring of the lawful use and protection of IPO;
• Preparation of agreements on the transfer and licensing of property rights to IP;
• Support for IP patenting and registration processes in Ukraine and abroad;
• Taking measures to prevent violations of the University's IP rights by both employees of structural units and third parties.
3. Commercialization and investment attraction:
• Development of investment and business projects based on IP;
• Search for potential investors and licensees for commercial use of developments;
• Assistance in the creation of advertising materials, participation in exhibitions, fairs, presentations;
• Assistance in preparing founding documents for the creation of IP rights holder companies, in particular using the resources of the TechStartupSchool Business Innovation Center.
4. Innovative activities and cross-sectoral interaction:
• Facilitating the development of the University's innovative ecosystem.
• Stimulating cooperation between scientists, enterprises, and investors;
• Participating in international projects and programs on IP and innovation together with the TechStartupSchool Business Innovation Center and the University Science Park;
• Organizing events to promote scientific achievements and innovations;
• Participation in organizing the University's scientific and innovation project competition.
5. Educational and consulting services:
• Conducting training sessions, seminars, and courses to improve the qualifications of employees of the University's structural units;
• Providing methodological recommendations on patent and marketing research;
• Consulting on the preparation of materials for competitions, tenders, and grants;
• Developing and distributing educational, explanatory, and advisory materials.
6. Analytics and information support:
• Creating and maintaining databases of IP, innovative projects, and University developments and publicizing them on relevant web resources;
• Analysis of the market, legal environment, and international practices;
• Preparation of reports, budget proposals, and regulatory documents;
• Presentation of the department's results in a digital environment.
