The Institute of Law and Psychology (ILP) arose as a result of the reorganization of the Lviv State Institute of Advanced Technologies and Management named after Viacheslav Chornovil (Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On the Reorganization of the Lviv State Institute of Advanced Technologies and Management named after Vyacheslav Chornovil” No. 2109 of November 17, 2010 and Order of the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine “On the Reorganization of the Lviv State Institute of Advanced Technologies and Management named after Vyacheslav Chornovil” No. 1284 of December 24, 2010), joining the National University “Lviv Polytechnic” (Order No. 9-10 of January 24, 2011) and separation into a separate structural unit.
In the formation of the Institute during the 2011–2019 academic years, existing departments were reorganized, and new ones were opened. In the fall of 2019, the Institute of Law and Psychology was renamed the Institute of Law, Psychology and Innovative Education (further - the IPPO, Order No. 478-1-10 “On Improving the Organizational Structure of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Law and Psychology” issued on September 17, 2019). The Institute was restructured in the spring of 2024: now it has seven departments, four centers, and a psychological hub.
