The International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, has traditionally become a partner of the Ukrainian Catholic University in holding the Ecumenical Social Week. This year, the event will be held in Lviv under the title «From War to Sustainable Peace: Through Justice and Solidarity» on October 4–7.
As part of the Ecumenical Week, IECDR will hold a panel discussion «Children and youth during forced military emigration: how not to lose, how to preserve?», which touches on the most sensitive sphere of Ukraine in war conditions – children and youth, their education, psychological and emotional states, preservation Ukrainian language and identity, a sense of safety and security.
The following are invited to participate in the panel discussion:
- Mykhailo Vynnytskyi – Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine;
- Yurii Bobalo – Rector of Lviv Polytechnic;
- Taras Dobko – Rector of the Ukrainian Catholic University;
- Orysia Demska – Doctor of Sciences in Philology, Professor, the first chairman and organizer of the National Commission on State Language Standards;
- Rostyslav Pendiuk – Head of the Commission on Youth Affairs, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church;
- Lidiia Zablotska-Zhytka – Professor, Doctor of Science at the Institute of Psychology, the Maria Grzegorzewska University in Warsaw;
- Oksana Wynnyckyj-Yusypovych – PhD, Canada’s Honorary Consul in Ukraine;
- Hanna Vakhitova – PhD, Associate Professor, lecturer at the Kyiv School of Economics, researcher at the University of Southern Denmark.
Together with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the church, the public sector, scientists, researchers and experts in the field of education, pedagogy, psychology, migration, politics and economy, the participants of the event will try to find answers to the key question of the discussion – how not to lose, how to preserve Ukrainian children and youth during wartime emigration and their role in the further development of Ukraine and ensuring sustainable peace.
The panel discussion will take place on October 5, 2023, from 12:00 to 14:00, in Julian Zachariewicz hall in the main building of Lviv Polytechnic (Lviv, 12 Bandery St.). An online participation in the event is also possible.
The organizers invite educators, parents, representatives of various environments, for whom issues of safety and psychological protection of Ukrainian children and young people are important.
