On June 17, 2022, on the eve of World Refugee Day, a discussion «Ukrainian Forced Migrants in Europe: Diaspora Aid» will take place online on the Zoom platform. The event is organized by the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
After the large-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, millions of Ukrainians were forced to flee their homeland. Today, Ukrainian forced migrants are seeking international protection and asylum in European countries. Ukrainian diaspora organizations were among the first to respond and assist them.
Event participants will learn:
- How does our diaspora help Ukrainian forced migrants in European countries?
- What new areas of work is the diaspora implementing and how is it organizing the activities of state and local self-government bodies in their countries to help Ukrainians?
- What problems of Ukrainian forced migrants need to be addressed urgently and who can help?
- Will it be possible to preserve the national identity of Ukrainian forced migrants and involve them in public activities in European countries?
- What is the future of Ukrainian forced migrants?
All this and much more will be discussed with speakers – leaders of Ukrainian diaspora organizations from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary – countries with the largest concentration of flows of Ukrainians.
All registered in advance will receive an invitation to participate. The event starts at 17:00 (Kyiv time).
