Data Privacy in IoT Summer School for bachelor’s, master’s and postgraduate students

The Data Privacy in IoT Summer School will be held at the Department of Automated Control Systems, the Institute of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic, from May 27 to 31, 2024.

Purpose of the event:

  • to present the main challenges from the point of view of security in IoT systems and ways to solve them, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR);
  • to study legal aspects of lawful collection, storage and analysis of personal data, as well as global experience in the field of data protection in IoT systems: standards, technologies, and regulatory legal acts;
  • to discuss the peculiarities of working with cloud services and technologies and the use of artificial intelligence technologies in IoT.

Senior bachelor’s students (3rd – 4th year), master’s and postgraduate students can attend the Summer School. To participate, you need to register till May 24. Students will be selected on a competitive basis, the selection results will be announced till May 25.

Students can get 2 ECTS credits, which can be transferred to the corresponding courses. The condition for obtaining a certificate is that the student attends at least 80% of classes and uploads an individual written work, the passing score for which is 40%.

The Data Privacy in IoT Summer School is conducted by Lviv Polytechnic National University as part of the implementation of the Data Protection in the EU educational project of the Erasmus+ programme, Jean Monnet Chair, with the support of the European Union.

The classes will be conducted by project participants and faculty of the ACS Department:

  • Anastasiia Doroshenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor (project coordinator);
  • Vasyl Tesliuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor;
  • Kvitoslava Obelovska, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor;
  • Yurii Opotiak, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor.

There will also be master classes, workshops and practicals with invited speakers from leading IT companies that are engaged in the development of smart systems and data security.
