Scientific Activities

The scientific direction of the Department is the modeling of systems, ensuring the competitiveness of trade enterprises based on economic management and communication-information innovations. The Department of Entrepreneurship and Environmental Expertise of Goods faculty actively combines teaching with research activities. This synergy enhances the quality and effectiveness of the educational process, improves curriculum content by reflecting current trends in economic, financial, and innovative development, and promotes the implementation of advanced teaching and methodological practices. The research efforts of faculty members, postgraduate, and doctoral students focus on refining methodological tools for managing entrepreneurial structures to ensure their competitiveness, theoretical studies of entrepreneurial management, and addressing methodological challenges in entrepreneurship and trade within sustainable development.

 

Research Areas. The Department’s scientific work includes:

  • Conducting state-funded and contract research projects
  • Preparing and publishing scientific works (monographs, articles, conference abstracts) in leading domestic and international journals
  • Supervising dissertations for PhD and Doctor of Sciences degrees by faculty and postgraduate students
  • Faculty research internships and professional development in Ukraine and abroad
  • Participation in scientific conferences and seminars at various levels
  • Scientific collaboration with leading academic institutions, enterprises, and organisations of different ownership forms and economic activities
  • Consulting domestic business structures on a wide range of economic issues
  • Supervising student research projects and encouraging young talent through participation in conferences, symposia, and competitions

  • “Economics of Land Degradation Due to War and Post-War Recovery: Innovative Practices for Sustainable Management of Agricultural Natural Resources” (No. 0124U000518, 2024–2026). Co-executor: Prof. Lesia Kucher, Doctor of Economic Sciences.
  • “Modelling Cybersecure and Environmentally Responsible Trade Enterprises Considering Information-Communication Challenges in Wartime and Postwar Conditions” (No. 0125U000568, 2025–2029). Project leader: Prof. Sviatoslav Knyaz.

 

Research Laboratory. Since 2019, the Department has operated Research Laboratory NDL-124 for Quality and Safety Expertise of Goods, led by Prof. Sviatoslav Knyaz. The lab conducts scientific research, performs contract work, provides scientific and consulting services, and fosters innovation by collaborating with enterprises and organisations.

 

Contract Research Projects:

Development of an information-analytical support model for engineering-technological decisions (2019–2020)

Development of an innovation management system model in e-business (2022–2023)

Development of an entrepreneurial risk management model within sustainable development values (2022–2024)

Development of a positioning mechanism for enterprise transfer objects during the formation and implementation of transfer potential (2023)

Development of trade-logistics systems considering current consumer safety requirements (2023–2024)

 

Scientific Publications and Achievements:

Since 2011, the Department has published over 10 monographs, more than 400 articles in specialized scientific journals, and nearly 100 articles indexed in international scientometric databases such as Scopus and Web of Science. Faculty members have participated in over 100 scientific conferences.

Student Research. 

Students actively participate and win awards in national and international student research competitions. Recent prizewinners include V. Dzvonyk, S. Yavorskyi, V. Vykhrystyuk, S. Chaban, T. Andriychuk, and P. Khomych. More than half of the students participate in scientific conferences, with some co-authoring publications in scientific journals indexed in international databases.

The Department trains highly qualified researchers through its postgraduate program. Since its inception, faculty members have defended a Doctor of Sciences dissertation (Oleksandra Farat), a Candidate of Sciences dissertation (V. Kosovska), and several PhD dissertations (Roman Rusyn-Hrynyk, Svitlana Stakhurska).

 

New Initiative

In 2025, the Department initiated the All-Ukrainian Student Scientific Competition on Cybersecure and Environmentally Responsible Trade Enterprises, addressing information-communication challenges in wartime and postwar.
