The Department of Computer-Aided Design — CAD was founded on the basis of research field which is headed by academician of Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine, Sc.D., Professor V.Koval at the Department “Designing and Manufacturing Technology of Radio Equipment”. In 1989 it was separated as an independent unit headed by Professor V.Koval.
In 1992 the Department was included in the newly formed Faculty of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies.
Since 1996 till 2000 the Department was headed by I.Motyka. Since 2000 the Department has been headed by Sc.D., Professor M.Lobur.
The Department is a part of the Institute of Computer Sciences and Information Technologies and includes 30 lecturers, 10 Ph.D. students and 1 doctoral candidate, 5 members of the staff.
Seven lecturers of the Department are graduates of the CAD Department. The Graduates of the Department successfully work at the leading Ukrainian and foreign organizations, which deal with the development and implementation of computer-aided design, they continue their master degree study at the leading education institutions of Europe.
The Department successfully operates Ph.D. and doctoral studies in the field of Computer-aided design. Over the past five years 2 Sc.D. and 6 Ph.D. theses have been defended.
The main research work of the Department is carried out in the field of Computer-Aided Design on the development and implementation of computer-aided design of microelectronic devices.
