The Department of Theory of Law and Constitutionalism successfully operates the Research Laboratory “Rule of Law and Human Rights,” which is a key structural unit for advancing scientific work and testing theoretical knowledge in practice. The laboratory’s activities focus on comprehensive research into pressing issues related to the development of the rule of law, mechanisms for guaranteeing constitutional rights and freedoms, and the harmonisation of the national legal system with European standards of public authority and justice. Through this work, the laboratory ensures the integration of the educational process with advanced scientific developments.
The laboratory’s work encompasses not only fundamental research but also the active coordination of scientific initiatives among academic staff and students. Research results are regularly incorporated into teaching materials, discussed at scientific and practical events, and serve as the basis for expert opinions and recommendations for public authorities. Therefore, the laboratory plays a crucial role in enhancing the practical significance of the department’s scientific achievements and contributes meaningfully to the development of legal doctrine in Ukraine.
The laboratory’s scientific activity also has a clearly defined practical dimension, as demonstrated by the analytical studies conducted in recent years:
- In 2023, an analytical study was conducted on the specifics of performing notarial acts in the field of corporate law involving foreign legal entities (in particular, using the example of state registration of rights under Article 20 of the Law of Ukraine “On State Registration of Real Rights to Immovable Property and Their Encumbrances”).
- In 2024, an analytical study examined the constitutional compliance of the provisions of the second paragraph of part one of Article 39 of the Housing Code of Ukraine with part two of Article 24 of the Constitution of Ukraine, demonstrating in-depth expertise in the field of constitutionalism and human rights.
- In 2025, an analytical study analysed the constitutionality of part six of Article 45 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Bar and Legal Practice.”
