On March 7, there was a final of the Tech Battle – Student Innovation Competition. 8 student teams from the Innovation Programs by IT Cluster and Ukrainian Catholic University, 4 of which got the funding for their projects, competed in the final.

The Fencing Assistant team took the first place. The fourth and second-year students of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics of the Ukrainian Catholic University came up with a solution for the fencing athletes that enables to measure the speed and reactions during the training and to trace their development. The team will receive 25,000 UAH for the development of their idea.

The second place was taken by the F.A.Q. team with their I-Met project. The team of the second-year students from the Internet of Things program at Lviv Polytechnic National University developed the ІоТ-system, which enables to automate the submission of meter readings and facilitate the monitoring process. The device solves the problem of the late meter reading submission, and the website and application allow you to control the utility costs. In addition to new skills and motivation, the team will receive 15,000 UAH for the I-Met development.

The third place was taken by two teams: TIMM (Things in my mind) with the Safe House project and team_d with the KLUNOK project. Both teams also consist of the students from the Internet of Things program at Lviv Polytechnic.

TIMM is working on a modular system for the Safe House, which consists of sensors and automated taps, which in case of danger will block supply and inform residents about the gas or water leak. The system also includes prevention of flooding or gas leakage, automatic tap closing system, remote and secure access through the own tunnels.

The team_d designed a smart backpack which informs about too much weight, improper wearing or the fact that your back needs to rest. The backpack is also equipped with a lock that sends notifications, if somebody tries to open the backpack. In addition to the backpack, the team is working on an application that will give personalized tips to users and help find a backpack if it gets lost.

Both teams will receive 5,000 UAH for working on their developments.

The organizers promised to make Tech Battle an annual competition, so if you have ideas for a startup – start preparing the project.
