Lviv Polytechnic National University hosted a meeting between our students and representatives of New Western University (NWU), during which study opportunities and scholarship programs were presented. The event, organized by the Department of Management and International Business, was attended by first-year students from group EB-11.
Among the guests there were NWU President Kevin Liu, Dean Kateryna Sydorenko, Professor Hanna Hurina, and translator Lilia Semerun. University representatives told students about the history and educational model of NWU founded in California in 2022. Its emergence was a response to the global challenges facing education around the world and, in particular, in Ukraine.
One of the reasons for founding the university was the COVID-19 pandemic, which exposed weaknesses in education worldwide. Schools and universities were unprepared for effective distance learning. When traditional classes became impossible, the NWU founding team recognized the need for a new university model – one that is flexible, innovative, and practical.
An additional challenge was the full-scale war in Ukraine, which further complicated access to education. But this only strengthened the team’s belief that education should not be just a tool, but the foundation for stability, new opportunities and success in life.
Today, NWU combines Ukrainian academic traditions with American innovative approaches and offers 100% online learning for students from all over the world.
The presentation focused on the MBA programme which lasts 18 months and covers two specialisations:
- MBA in Risk Management focuses on financial and operational risks, global compliance standards, and prepares students for such roles as Chief Risk Officer or Risk Strategy Consultant.
- MBA in Artificial Intelligence emphasizes integrating AI into business processes, managing innovation, and preparing for such positions as AI Product Manager or Analytics Director.
Students also learned about internship opportunities (for example, e-commerce on TikTok Shop and Amazon platforms, as well as analytics, automation and risk management). Kevin Liu repeatedly emphasised that studying at NWU is more about practice than dry theory.
The event gave Ukrainian students the opportunity to learn more about the modern international MBA programme, which combines business education with innovative technologies and provides financial support for those pursuing high-quality education at a global level.
