Based on the evaluation results of the submitted project proposals, Lviv Polytechnic National University has become the coordinator of the international project Integration through Capacity building of the LIFE Programme for Ukraine’s Durable Engagement (InCL-U-DE), which is being implemented with the support of the European Union within the LIFE-2025-TA-CAP (Technical Assistance for Capacity Building) call.
The project will be implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, which is responsible for the strategic alignment of the project with the state environmental policy, and the All-Ukrainian Environmental League, which will ensure a broad regional presence, organisation of events and public engagement. The project is expected to start on 1 December 2025 and is planned to run for 36 months.
The aim of the project is to strengthen the participation of Ukrainian organisations in the LIFE programme by creating a national support infrastructure, building institutional capacity and raising awareness of funding opportunities in the areas of environmental and climate protection under the LIFE programme.
Lviv Polytechnic National University was represented by the Department of Ecology and Sustainable Environmental Management, Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development. Project Coordinator is Professor Myroslav Maliovanyi, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Head of the Department, and the Project Manager is Associate Professor Nazarii Andrushchak, Doctor of Technical Sciences. Lviv Polytechnic will be responsible for creating the LIFE:UA information web platform, developing e-courses, conducting various webinars, trainings, regional events and summer schools, as well as supporting potential applicants.
The project will include:
- launching the national portal LIFE:UA and establishing the LIFE:UA Hub – the National Contact Point of the LIFE Programme in Ukraine;
- holding regional roundtables, forums, webinars and summer schools;
- supporting project applications submitted by Ukrainian organisations for LIFE competitions in 2026–2028;
- analysing and aligning national environmental priorities with the LIFE Programme areas.
The implementation of the LIFE InCL-U-DE project will contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s institutional capacity in the field of environment and climate, as well as to ensure deeper integration of Ukraine into the EU environmental policy.
