On 28 May 2025, the final of the "Energy Youth 2025" Hackathon took place, bringing together creative and ambitious youth of Lviv Polytechnic National University. This year, the event gathered 66 participants from 7 departments and 8 team mentors who guided the teams throughout the project development process.

The aim of the event is to enhance the level of awareness among students in the field of sustainable energy development and the prospects for its implementation in Ukraine.

During the Hackathon, participants worked in teams on innovative solutions addressing current issues in energy, ecology, security, and sustainable development. The themes covered this year were diverse and reflected both technical and socio-political challenges. Among the topics addressed by the teams were:

  • Nuclear blackmail as a political tool of the russian federation
  • Modern approach to building relay protection systems
  • Smart waste bins on the territory of Lviv Polytechnic
  • Smart sensors in environmental monitoring of educational institutions
  • REPowerEU Action Plan – a weapon against russian blackmail
  • PolyGreenTechnica
  • Coffee as biofuel
  • Innovative eco-space "Restovp"
  • Decarbonization and independence: the role of microalgae biofuel in the EU's energy future
  • EU Hydrogen Strategy and prospects for Ukraine
  • The cost of green energy: the impact of lithium extraction on nature and people
  • Small modular reactors

All teams demonstrated a high level of preparation, creativity, and a strong drive to find real solutions to today's energy and environmental challenges. The final presentations impressed with their depth of analysis, originality, and practical applicability.
