Anastasia Doroshenko, Associate Professor at the Department of Automated Control Systems, the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies, Lviv Polytechnic National University, recently took part in the large-scale European event EIT Education & Skills Days 2025, organized by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) in Brussels, Belgium. The event brought together participants from various universities, research organizations, businesses, and government institutions from EU countries to discuss strategies for developing future skills and shaping European educational ecosystems.
The central theme of the event focused on building a European Union of Skills and developing human resources for innovative industries, including STEM, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, quantum technologies, and sustainable development. During the plenary session Building Europe’s Talent Pipeline, participants presented key directions for implementing a common European talent development strategy. Particular emphasis was placed on strengthening the role of universities in training highly qualified professionals and fostering cooperation models between education, industry, and public institutions. The EIT Skills Academies Programme addressed the development of competencies for the green and digital transformations, as well as the launch of the European Academy of Advanced Materials, which aims to supply strategic sectors of the economy with skilled professionals.
Particular attention was given to the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative – a large-scale program to train 1 million specialists in the field of deep tech by 2030. Participants discussed future directions for the development of educational trajectories in the fields of artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, robotics and cybersecurity, as well as the role of inter-university alliances in supporting the exchange of expertise and practical training.
This year, the key topics of discussion were quantum computing, cybersecurity and the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process.
The networking and thematic sessions became an important platform for sharing experiences and presenting Lviv Polytechnic’s initiatives. During these meetings:
- current international and educational projects of the University were showcased. In particular, a presentation was delivered on the Jean Monnet Module project «European Data Strategy: Data Management for New Opportunities» (101127839 – Data4EU – ERASMUS-JMO-2023-HEI-TCH-RSCH) within the framework of EIT Education & Skills Days 2025;
- contacts were established with representatives of academic institutions, technology companies, and research centers;
- potential partnerships were outlined in the fields of quantum technologies, cybersecurity, and AI education;
- prospects for joint applications for grant programs, including the EIT Deep Tech Talent Initiative, were discussed.
These meetings laid the foundation for expanding international cooperation and attracting new partners to joint educational and research projects of Lviv Polytechnic National University. The outcomes achieved will contribute to updating curricula in line with market demands and modern technologies, fostering the University’s integration into European educational networks, and strengthening Lviv Polytechnic’s role as a leading center for training specialists for the digital and innovation-driven economy.
