The organizing committee invites you to take part in the Ukrainian-Polish Scientific and Practical Workshop «Modern Approaches to the Assessment of Strength and Durability of Engineering Structure», which will be held online on 4–5 February 2025.

The seminar is organized by the Department of Strength of Materials and Structural Mechanics, the Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Systems, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and co-organised by the Ignacy Lukasiewicz Rzeszow University of Technology, Poland, Karpenko Physico-Mechanical Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Society of Fracture Mechanics.

The purpose of the workshop is to share experience in developing modern methods to ensure the strength of engineering elements and structures, taking into account the impact of the operating environment.

Topics of the workshop

  • Section 1: Problematic issues and prospects for the development of hydrogen energy
The section is aimed at discussing current issues and prospects for the development of hydrogen energy as a key area in the transition to clean energy sources. The main topics include the impact of hydrogen on the degradation of structural materials, increase of durability of hydrogen storage and transportation systems and the development of new materials and technologies that are resistant to hydrogen. The section will also focus on the mathematical modelling of hydrogen-related processes to predict the reliability of structures and optimize technological solutions.

  • Section 2: Dynamics and strength of engineering structures
The section is dedicated to the discussion of modern approaches to the assessment of dynamic behaviour and strength of engineering structures under various operating conditions. Theoretical, experimental and numerical methods for analysing the strength, stability and durability of structures will be considered. Particular attention will be paid to the impact of external loads, temperature gradients, corrosive environments and flooding on the performance of materials and structures. The aim of the section is to share experience and research findings to improve the reliability and safety of modern engineering systems.
