For the third time, the Department of Tourism, Viacheslav Chornovil Institute of Sustainable Development, Lviv Polytechnic National University, invites high school students of secondary schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, colleges and vocational schools to take part in the Summer School with International Participation «Introduction to Wikipedia: How to Start Writing about Your Homeland».
The classes will be held at the Student Library, Lviv Polytechnic (3 Mytropolyta Andreia St.) on 9–13 June 2025.
The school’s programme includes classes in the following blocks:
- Introduction to Wikipedia;
- local history topics on Wikipedia and sister projects (Wikivoyage and Wikiquote);
- the essence and peculiarities of travelling in one’s native land for articles in Wikivoyage;
- rules and peculiarities of creating and/or editing articles about the native land in Wikipedia and sister projects;
- completion of competitive tasks in Wikipedia and its sister projects and determination of the winners;
- rules and peculiarities of working with Wikipedia.
The classes will be conducted by lecturers from the Department of Tourism, Lviv Polytechnic, and experienced Wikipedians from the NGO Wikimedia Ukraine, combining lectures with practical tasks. The programme also includes an online presentation by a Wikipedian from Armenia.
Upon completion of the Summer School with International Participation «Introduction to Wikipedia: How to Start Writing about Your Homeland», the participants will receive certificates and souvenirs from the NGO Wikimedia Ukraine.
The training is free of charge.
