Students of 8–11 grades and teachers are invited to participate in the educational Summer School «GIS Technologies in School Education: Integration of Theory and Practice» within the framework of the Geographic Information Systems Engineering study programme, organised by the Department of Cartography and Geospatial Modelling, the Institute of Geodesy, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
The School’s programme includes:
- Fundamentals of geographic information systems (GIS);
- Working with spatial data and maps;
- Studying nature and social environment using GIS;
- Application of GIS in science, tourism and ecology;
- Project activities and practical tasks.
GIS technologies can be used in geography, computer science, biology, ecology, history and civic education lessons to visualise, analyse and research spatial data.
Online lectures and practical classes will be held online from 18:00 to 20:00 on 16–19 and 23 June 2025. In addition, students will complete an independent project work of 20 hours (approximately 4 hours per day).
Upon completion, participants will receive an electronic certificate (30 hours, 1 ECTS credit).
