«Nations Will Live Whose Language Computers Speak»: Lecture-Meeting in memory of Professor Volodymyr Perkhach

The Lviv Polytechnic Museum of History invites you to an event dedicated to honoring the memory of the outstanding scientist, educator, public figure, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in the field of science and technology, academician of the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine, Professor of Lviv Polytechnic National University Volodymyr Perkhach (1929–2005).

  • Professor Perkhach is an innovator of Ukrainian-language computerization, methods of analysis and optimal synthesis of electromagnetic circuits and electric power systems.
  • He was one of the first in Ukraine to introduce modern mathematical modeling and computing technology into the educational process and scientific research, in particular, he developed a new direction – «Mathematical modeling of processes and optimization of power systems with valve devices».
  • Volodymyr Perkhach laid the foundations for the revival of Ukrainian scientific terminology in both teaching and research. On his initiative, the Technical Committee for Standardization of Scientific and Technical Terminology was established in Ukraine in 1992. He served as the head of the Center for Scientific and Technical Terminology of Ukraine and chaired the Technical Committee for Standardization.

The event will take place on 19 November, 2025 in the premises of the Museum of the History of Lviv Polytechnic (main building of the University, 3rd floor, room 300). It starts at 12:00.

The organizers invite everyone who knows, respects and remembers Volodymyr Perkhach – a man who dedicated his life to science, education and the Ukrainian scientific word!
