On 29 April 2025, the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Baltic Ukrainians: Integration and Community Building» will be held in Zachariewicz Hall (room 214) in the main building of Lviv Polytechnic National University.

The event will feature a presentation of the results of a comprehensive study «Community Building of Ukrainians in Estonia», which was implemented by the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic, in partnership with the Association of Ukrainian Organisations in Estonia.

A number of issues will be discussed:

  • How was the old Ukrainian community in Estonia formed and what are its peculiarities?

  • In what forms does the activism of new Ukrainian migrants in Estonia take place and how do they perceive themselves in society?

The conference will also include a panel discussion, which will serve as a platform for dialogue and exchange of views to better understand the problems of Ukrainian military migrants in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in the context of new community building, their relationship with the old community and their involvement in advocacy for Ukrainian issues in their countries of residence.

Representatives of Ukrainian communities in the Baltic States, academics, researchers and all those interested in and concerned about the issues of Ukrainian forced migrants and the Ukrainian diaspora in the current context are invited to participate in the event.
