The Department of Philosophy, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences, Lviv Polytechnic National University, together with the Kazimierz Twardowski Philosophical Society of Lviv, the Department of History of Philosophy, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, and the Department of Philosophy, Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical University, invite you to participate in the International Roundtable «Lviv-Warsaw School: To the 130th Anniversary of Its Founding», which will take place online on 15 November, 2025.
Questions to be discussed during the roundtable
- Which ideas and methodological approaches of the Lviv–Warsaw School (LWS) continue to hold relevance for contemporary Ukrainian and Polish philosophy?
- How did the LWS influence the development of Polish philosophy after the fall of the communist regime?
- Which features of the Lviv–Warsaw School as an intellectual tradition should Ukrainian researchers pay particular attention to, and why?
- Can the Lviv–Warsaw School be regarded as part of the history of Ukrainian philosophy?
- How well is the Lviv–Warsaw School (LWS) known in Ukraine, particularly with regard to its achievements in the humanities, pedagogy, logic, and related fields? If not sufficiently, why?
- Should the Lviv–Warsaw School be viewed exclusively as a school of analytical orientation?
- What stereotypes and misconceptions exist within Ukrainian and Polish academic communities concerning the Lviv–Warsaw School, and how can they be overcome?
- What constitutes the uniqueness of the Lviv–Warsaw School?
Distinguished scholars of the Lviv–Warsaw School legacy, namely Professor Anna Brożek (University of Warsaw, Poland), Professor Jan Woleński (University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów, Poland), and Dr. Zuzana Rybaříková (University of Ostrava, Czech Republic) have been invited to participate in the roundtable discussion.
