The Organizing Committee invites you to participate in the International Scientific Conference «Levko Poliuha’s Linguistic Heritage: Traditions and Prospects» (to the 95th anniversary of his birth), which will be held at the Department of Ukrainian Language, Lviv Polytechnic National University, on November 20–21, 2025.
The purpose of the conference is to honor the scientific achievements of the famous Ukrainian linguist on the occasion of his 95th anniversary. The event aims to bring together researchers to address the pressing issues related to preserving the Ukrainian language from structural and functional degradation, experimentation, and voluntarism; to discuss current challenges in the development of linguistics, particularly in the fields of lexicology and lexicography, terminology and orthography, language history, and the study of writers’ language; as well as to reaffirm and continue the scholarly traditions established by Levko Poliuha at the Department of the Ukrainian Language, the Institute of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
The relevance of the conference theme stems from the need for a thorough understanding and wider dissemination of Levko Poliuha’s linguistic achievements, which hold a unique place in the development of Ukrainian linguistics. The contemporary scholarly community faces the task of updating methodological approaches to the analysis of linguistic phenomena, refining research techniques, and integrating them into modern linguistic studies. Therefore, considering the contributions of the classics of linguistics (including the works of Levko Poliuha), the re-evaluation of twentieth-century linguistic research, and its adaptation to present-day needs, we deem it essential to hold this scientific gathering. It will serve to unite scholars from various countries in their efforts to promote the achievements of Ukrainian linguistics both within Ukraine and in the global academic context.
