For three days, from July 2 to 4, 2021, Lviv honours the memory of Lviv professors shot on the Vuletsky Hills in July 1941.
On July 2, at 9:00, Lviv Polytechnic will gather researchers for an online bridge with Polish colleagues.
Nataliya Chukhray, Vice-Rector for Education and International Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and Marek Mutor, Director of the Remembrance and Future Institute, will address the participants.
Rector of Lviv Polytechnic, Professor Yurii Bobalo and Rector of the University of Wroclaw, Professor Przemyslaw Wisniewski, will take part in the event.
Eliza Dzwonkiewicz, Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv, will deliver a speech.
During the online bridge, researchers – Kamila Yasinska, Head of the publishing department «Pamięć i Przyszłość» and Vasyl Kmet, Director of the Scientific Library of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv – will present the historical guidebook «Mortui vivunt. Przez Lwów i Wrocław szlakiem zbrodni na Wzgórzach Wuleckich» («The Dead Live. Through Lviv and Wrocław by Crime on the Vulecki Hills»). This is the first joint Polish-Ukrainian publication concerning the crime against the Lviv intelligentsia in July 1941.
The conference will also be joined by Jan Longchamps de Berier, a witness to the event, the son of Roman Longchamps de Berier, Rector of Jan Kazimierz University.
The second part of the meeting will feature historians from Lviv Polytechnic – Andrii Bolianovskyi and Roman Kuzmyn and Nadiia Kozel, researcher from the Scientific and Technical Library of Lviv Polytechnic, as well as Polish researchers – Professor Grzegorz Gryciuk from the University of Wroclaw and Marek Mutor, Director of the Remembrance and Future Institute.
On Saturday, July 3, at 10:00, officials and researchers will come to the Vuletsky Hills to commemorate the dead and lay flowers to the monument.
On Sunday, June 4, at 14:30, near the symbolic grave at the place of execution of Lviv researchers, there will be a funeral prayer and laying of flowers, in which representatives of Polish cultural societies and the academic community of Lviv will take part.
