Data Protection Day – 2026. European approach to data management: trust, protection and innovation

January 28 marks World Data Protection Day. On this occasion, on January 28, 2026, Lviv Polytechnic National University, with the support of the European Union, is organizing a conference within the framework of the Jean Monnet Module international project «European Data Strategy: Data Management for New Opportunities» (Data4EU). The event is held for CEOs, CIOs, CCOs, DPOs, information security officers, risk managers, HR managers, business analysts, and lawyers representing IT, insurance, telecommunications companies, as well as the banking sector.

The conference will take place online on the Microsoft Teams platform.

The main purpose of the event is to discuss the European approach to data management, combining personal data protection requirements with the development of data as an economic resource, as well as analyze the status of GDPR implementation in Ukraine, in particular, identifying practical problems, exchanging experience and discussing successful cases of integrating the requirements of European legislation into business processes.

Objectives of the event:

  • popularization of European data management principles, including personal data protection, accountability and transparency in Ukraine;
  • organization of exchange of practical experience in implementing GDPR, Data Governance Act and Data Act between companies from different industries and countries;
  • discussion of the role of trust and compliance with the regulatory requirements of the EU AI Act as factors in the development of innovative solutions based on the use of data, in particular in the field of Big Data and artificial intelligence;
  • identification of the peculiarities of compliance with the requirements of European data legislation by IT companies when developing analytical and intelligent systems and organizing remote work;
  • providing consulting support to companies working with EU citizens clients to reduce legal, financial and reputational risks.
