International Academic Practical Conference «Regulatory and legal control of modern religious movements and sects»

The Institute of Jurisprudence and Psychology of Lviv Polytechnic National University invites you to participate in the International Academic Practical Conference «Regulatory and legal control of modern religious movements and sects: international experience and Ukrainian prospects», which will begin a series of events dedicated to the problems of Modern religious movements and sects.

The Conference will be held on March 30–31, 2017, in the Academic Board meeting hall in the main academic building of Lviv Polytechnic National University (12 St. Bandera str., Lviv). The participants of the Conference include academics, civil servants, members of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church Archbishopric Bureau for Modern Religious Movements and Sects and representatives of different denominations from Azerbaijan, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine.

Conference topics:

  • Freedom of religion and modern movements and sects: international practice and Ukrainian reality;
  • The notion and the general understanding of sects and modern religious movements: academic discourse and philosophical and theological dimension;
  • Regulatory and legal control of modern religious movements and sects;
  • Reasons for emergence and consequences of the activity of modern religious movements: psychological, legal, philosophical and religious aspects.

Within the framework of the Conference, there will be a presentation of the monograph «Sects and modern religious movements in official documents. Classification, analysis, comments and source texts (reports, resolutions, recommendations, decrees and orders)» by R. Kaminski (Adam Mickiewicz University in Toruń).
